Start Outlook Express, select the Bartol account, right click on it and select 'Properties'.
Select the tab 'General' and make sure your 'Name' and 'E-mail address' are spelled correctly.
Select the tab 'Servers' and make sure that: in the 'My incoming mail server is a' field you specified 'IMAP', in the fields 'Incoming mail (IMAP)' and 'Outgoing mail (SMTP)' you specified 'bartol.udel.edu', in the field 'Account Name' your username is spelled correctly.
Make sure that 'Log on using Secure Password Authentication' is NOT checked and that 'My server requires authentication' is checked.
Click on 'Settings'.
Make sure the radio buttion 'Use the same settings as my incoming mail server' is selected.
Select the 'Advanced' tab and make sure the two buttons 'This server requires a secure connection (SSL)' are both checked.
Select the 'IMAP' tab and make sure the 'Root folder path' is empty.
Click OK to return to main window.
Click on the 'IMAP folders' button
You will see a list of all your mail folders on the server. Make sure all have the little icon beside the name. If not select the ones without it and then click 'Show'. In particular make sure the folder 'spam' has the small icon.

Now click OK to go back at the main screen and click on Inbox to read your mail. As you see from the picture there is a folder named 'spam' that will contain the spam that has been caught by the filters. The messages in this folder are automatically deleted when they become one week old.
