Thunderbird Configuration

Open Thunderbird, select the Bartol account and click on 'View Settings for this account'.

Make sure the fields 'Account Name', 'Your Name' and 'Email address' are correct and then click on 'Server Settings'.

Make sure the settings are as in the next picture. In particular pay attention that the server name is 'bartol.udel.edu', the TLS radio button is checked in the security settings and that your 'User Name' is spelled correctly. The button 'Use secure authentication' should be NOT checked.
Click on 'Advanced'.

Make sure the settings are as in the next picture. In particular the field 'IMAP server directory' should be empty and the button 'Show only subscribed folders' should be NOT checked.

Click OK twice until you are back to the 'Account Senttings' window. Click on 'Outgoing Server (SMTP)' and then on the right panel click on 'Edit'.

On the 'SMTP Server' window make sure the settings are as in the next picture. In particular pay attention that the server name is 'bartol.udel.edu', the port is 25, the button 'Use name and password' is checked, your 'User Name' is spelled correctly and that the TLS radio button is checked.

Now click OK until you are back at the main window and click on Inbox to read your mail. As you see from the picture there is a folder named 'spam' that will contain the spam that has been caught by the filters. The messages in this folder are automatically deleted when they become one week old.
